In a world of hundreds of news organizations a few stand out for me, especially online. However, I want to introduce you to a man who ‘wrote the book’ on the role of the media, Professor Noam Chomsky. He did a series with the National Film Board of Canada in the early 90’s called Manufacturing Consent but the entirety of it is over 2 hours if you want to pursue his rationale. Chris Hedges is considered to be a very bright man which I think you'll concur with after reading some of his works.

I'm not a big fan of a corporate news station like CNN but it's popularity is high so I thought I'd list it here as well.
